What Is Carlisle Etcetera LLC?

Carlisle Etcetera LLC is a private luxury women’s clothing line that designs and sells Carlisle, Etcetera, and Per Se collections by private appointment.

The company sells directly to customers using a network of professional Etcetera stylists.

Carlisle Etcetera LLC was launched in 1981 by William Rondina with headquarters in New York City.

On February 9, 2012, Carlisle Etcetera filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

The company assets were sold for $22 million to a joint venture between Tom James Company and Hong Kong’s Royal Spirit Group on April 16, 2012.

Royal Spirit Group took control of the Carlisle Etcetera LLC when it purchased the remaining 50% interest from Tom James Company on May 14, 2015.

Carlisle Etcetera LLC estimated sales revenue is around $70 million.

How To Join Carlisle Etcetera LLC?

You can apply to become an Etcetera stylist by visiting the company website.

The company will arrange for a meeting and an interview to get you started as a stylist.

You are required to attend the company training program before launching your own trunk show or scheduling a one-on-one meeting with clients.

However, if you want to build a business and earn commissions with the Carlisle Etcetera company, you must meet the sales quotas to remain active.

How Much Does It Cost To Join Carlisle Etcetera LLC?

The cost to join Carlisle Etcetera LLC is varied depending on how you set up your business.

Every season, an Etcetera stylist receives over 300 items to promote and sell.

Some Etcetera stylists operate the business from their own home, while others open a small showroom to sell Carlisle and Etcetera collections.

You will need the essential kit such as Measuring Tools, Accessories, and style book to help fit and match client clothing styles.

Carlisle Etcetera LLC does not provide a specified initial investment fund. However, you will likely need to have money available for marketing, traveling, and trunk show costs.

Besides the initial investment, there are expenses to stay in business.

Carlisle Etcetera LLC recommends stylists use the clothing that they represent. This can end up costing you a lot of money if you are unable to resell the clothing.

Remember, the expenses above do not include your time, marketing costs, travel expenses, and gas.

These expenses can destroy your business profits if you cannot sell Carlisle and Etcetera clothing. They become business losses.

In other home-based businesses, such as Affiliate Marketing, you earn the commission online, no need to travel for trunk shows or one-on-one meetings at the client’s home.

Carlisle Etcetera LLC Compensation

The Carlisle Etcetera LLC doesn’t publish a detailed compensation plan to the stylists.

But the way stylists make money is by selling Carlisle and Etcetera through private appoints and trunk shows.

I’ll provide a quick analysis of the Carlisle Etcetera compensation plan below.

Make Money Selling Carlisle Etcetera Clothing

Etcetera stylists assist clients with fitting and ordering their luxury clothing at home.

The stylists earn a 25% to 50% base commission on the clothing that their clients order.

Stylists also receive a bonus package based on the sales volume that they can generate in a season. If you do not hit the sales volume requirement, you will not earn a bonus.

One disadvantage of this business opportunity is you cannot sell Carlisle and Etcetera clothing online because you are a personal stylist offering exclusive service that tailors to each client’s personal look and style.

You must travel to the clients’ home or office to measure and fit the clothing.

This is not a home-based business opportunity, and you must work on the clients’ schedules, not your own.

Make Money Recruiting Stylists

Well, Carlisle Etcetera LLC doesn’t offer a bonus or incentive for recruiting stylists. You can only earn by selling clothing.

Starting a Carlisle Etcetera LLC business is similar to open an insurance agency, and you are the insurance agent.

Insurance agents make money by selling insurances, no recruiting.

Etcetera stylists make money by selling Carlisle and Etcetera clothing.

This is why you cannot find a compensation plan for Etcetera stylists. This is not an mlm business opportunity.

  1. Your information and numbers are slightly OFF. The commission that Stylists earn is 25-30% – NOT 50%. In addition, you can make extra $ by referring potential “new” Stylists.

YOU are correct – that this is NOT a MLM company. These clothes are for women who love CLASSIC, quality and timeless Fashions at a cost.

    • Thank you, Terry, for the commission update. It’s normal for the company to increase or decrease the commission rates overtimes.
Regarding new stylists, this is a referral fee, not a traditional mlm override commission.
