What Is Zija?
Zija is a multilevel marketing company that manufactures, distributes, and sells its proprietary products make from the Moringa oleifera tree. The company’s product line includes weight management, skincare, energy foods and drinks, and performance supplements.
The company was launched by Ken Brailsford in 2005 with headquarters in Lehi, Utah.
Ken has over 35 years of experiences working in the network marketing industry. He had found two direct selling companies before launching Zija.
Zija distributes and sells its proprietary products through an mlm network of over 100,000 independent distributors worldwide.
The company 2018 estimated sales revenue was $138 million.
The company has experienced financial troubles since 2015 and no longer publishes the income disclosure statement (IDS).
IDS is an important financial document to analyze the profits and losses of operating a Zija business.
This suggests your chance of making money with Zija is low. The business popularity is on a decline.
It is recommended to compare Zija with other home-based opportunities before investing.

How To Become A Zija Distributor?
Zija requires you to have a sponsor to become a distributor. Your sponsor is your upline.
You will need the sponsor ID to register with Zija website.
You can ask your sponsor to start the application process for you.
But to build a business and earn the commission with Zija, you must be an active and qualified consultant.
Active and qualified required purchasing an Enrollment Kit and meeting the monthly sales quota, which I’ll discuss in the next section of this Zija review.
How Much Does It Cost To Join Zija?
The basic cost to join Zija is $39 for an Enrollment Kit containing sales and demonstration materials only.
To become active and earn the commission, you have to purchase a starter kit with price ranging from $330 to $1,320.
The more expensive starter kits offer you a better commission, starting 15% up to 25%.
An annual renewal fee of $25 is required to continue as a distributor.
Besides initial investments above, there are expenses to operate your Zija mlm business.
Zija requires all distributors to maintain an active status and qualified to earn the commission:
An Active distributor must purchase at least 75 in Personal Volume (PV) every month. The PV increases to 150 as you move up the rank.
1 PV is about $1.47. A 75 PV would be $110.25 of product order each month.
A Qualified distributor must have two active recruits, one on the left leg and one on the right leg.
Zija is a Pay and Play business opportunity. If you want to earn, you have to pay.
Any distributor that fails to maintain an Active and Qualified status is not allowed to receive bonuses and commissions from Zija.
Remember, the expenses above do not include your time, party expenses, marketing costs, traveling, and gas.
The monthly active expense can destroy your business profit if you cannot resell the products. This becomes the business losses.
Other home-based businesses, such as Affiliate Marketing, you earn the commission on every sale, no need to be active and qualified.
Do you know why Zija has this monthly purchased requirement?
Well, to sell products and to avoid being classified as a pyramid scheme under the FTC guideline. (Check our MLM vs Affiliate Marketing for the discussion on the FTC MLM Guideline.)
Zija Compensation Plan
The Zija compensation plan is the document that outlines the commission and compensation structure of Zija mlm business.
I’ll provide a quick analysis of the Zija compensation plan. To see it in detail, just download a copy.
As an mlm opportunity, Zija offers you two options to earn: Sell Zija Products and/or recruiting others to join.
Make Money Selling Zija Products
Zija distributors can purchase products at the wholesale price, then resell to make profits.
Distributors can also direct customers to purchase from their replicated Zija website to earn retail profits.
This sounds easy to make money, right?
Well, I did a search online and found Zija XM+ selling online as low as $75.
The same item retail on the Zija website for $125 and wholesale price at $99.95.
It will be a challenge for distributors to make a retail profit selling Zija products on the market.
Overprice is the reason why distributors have a hard time selling Zija products.
Make Money Recruiting Distributors
When you cannot sell products, the only option to make money is recruiting others to join as a distributor.
Zija adopts a Binary compensation plan. Binary is considered one of the most difficult to make money in the mlm business.
Why?
Because you have to build two successful organizations, not one, to earn.
Before we begin, you also need to know that Zija doesn’t pay downline commission on the total sales amount.
The commission is calculated based on PV.
PV is points assigned to each product by Zija.
For example, you recruit purchased a SuperPack 1 for $220 with 150PV.
If the commission on this sale is 25%, then you earn $37.50 (150PV x 25%), not $55 on the total sale amount.
Can you see the marketing scheme here?
OK, we can start discussing the options for distributors to make money recruiting others.
Preferred Customers Commission
Zija offers up to 25% of all PV of your Personally Sponsored Retail and
Preferred Customer purchases.
To receive the commission, you have to be active and qualified.
First Order Bonus (FOB)
You earn a 10% or 20% of the total PV when your recruits placed the first order as a distributor.
Team Commission
Team commissions are determined based on the total Group Volume (GV) of a lesser leg from your organization.
You will earn a 15% commission when your lesser leg accumulated 500 GV.
The illustration below explains how a team commission is earned.
There are other leadership bonuses and commissions which require more PV and GV to qualify. Essentially, the distributors either purchase or sell more overpriced products to make money. Please refer to the compensation plan for more information.
As you can see, there are multiple ways to earn with Zija. However, no money is paid unless you are active and qualified.
This is how mlm works. Ways to earn is not the same as qualifying to receive the money.
Active and Qualification requires more product purchases or recruiting more people.
You can potentially earn nothing under the Zija compensation plan because the costs staying active and qualified might exceed the commissions received.
When evaluating mlm opportunity like Zija, you cannot rely on the compensation plan to determine the business income.
You must look at the actual bonuses and commissions received by Zija consultants to understand the business profit and loss.
Can You Make Money With Zija?
The Zija compensation plan is not the document to find out if you can make money with Zija?
Here’s what I mean,
The Zija compensation plan offers POTENTIAL EARNINGS, not the actual money distributors received from Zija.
To know Zija distributors’ actual income, you need a copy of the Income Disclosure Statement. This financial document provides ACTUAL INCOMES earned by distributors in the previous year.
But, Zija stopped publishing this financial information. Where can you get a copy?
You can request one at the time of signing up. The law requires Zija to provide you a copy together with the compensation plan.
As a business review writer, I look to the actual incomes to advise clients on an investment.
If Zija refuses to provide you a copy of the income disclosure statement, don’t join. This is a sign of a scam.
But, you don’t even need a copy of the Zija income disclosure statement to know that 99% of mlm businesses failed.
Zija stopped releasing this financial information because they don’t want you to know the truth. Zija distributors are not making money.
Is Zija A Scam?
Zija business opportunity is not a good investment. But Zija is not a scam.
Zija is a business opportunity. Every business has risks.
You are responsible to carefully research, study, and investigate Zija before enrolling.
If you become a Zija distributor without doing the proper researches, then you cannot call Zija a scam.
Reading this Zija Review is a good way to learn the risks and rewards associated with Zija.
Many entrepreneurs hire professional financial analysts to evaluate business profitability and loss before investing.
As an owner of an Online Business Review, I have evaluated hundreds of mlm businesses to help investors identified and managed the risks.
As a business opportunity, Zija is not a scam.
It’s an unprofitable business with a low rate of success.
Is Zija A Pyramid Scheme?
Most mlm companies in the US are legit if they follow the FTC guideline.
Zija might be legit under the law, but I don’t use the laws to evaluate a business opportunity.
I am using the financial information and earnings to determine a scam and a pyramid scheme.
I believe Zija, like most mlms, is a pyramid scheme.
If you look at the compensation plan, distributors are forced to purchase overpriced products to earn the commission.
The only way to sell Zija products is by recruiting others to become a distributor.
The more people that you bring in, the more money you make.
Distributors are the primary customers of this mlm company.
Doesn’t this make Zija as a pyramid scheme?
Yes, you might not agree with me.
But, based on our Zija Review, you must accept that Zija is hiding something when they stopped publishing the income disclosure statement. This should be a red flag, a warning to every entrepreneur.
Zija is not good home-based business, and the Zija compensation plan was designed to make money for Zija, not for you.
Is Zija Worth It?
Zija worth it if you believe and love the company products.
I am reviewing the Zija business opportunity, and I am telling you I don’t think you want to waste time and money with this opportunity.
However, the decision to join Zija is yours to make.

I don’t like mlm opportunity because of the “Business Control.”
All Zija distributors have no control over their business. They must follow and obey Zija rules and policies to stay in business.
What happens if Zija goes out of business?
Yes, you are out of business too! All your hard work disappears and nothing you can do about it. You have zero control over your business.

I ready don’t care if Zija is a pyramid scheme or a legit company.
I would not join a company that published their financial information in a good time but stopped when they have problems.
Can you trust this company?
