What Is PartyLite Biz?
PartyLite Biz is a multilevel marketing (mlm) company that designs, manufactures, and sells high-quality candles, candle accessories, flameless fragrance, and wax warmers, as well as holiday and home décor.
PartyLite Biz exclusively distributes its products through an mlm network of over 45,000 independent consultants operating in more than 20 different countries.
PartyLite Biz was launched in 1973 to promote and distribute high-quality candles created by a schoolteacher named Mabel Baker in 1903.
At the time of writing this review, PartyLite estimated sales revenue is $175 Million, which had been on a decline from $273 million in 2015.
A warning to all investors, in the last few years, PartyLite Biz doesn’t publish a clear compensation plan and the income disclosure statement (IDS). These financial documents provide crucial information regarding the profits and losses of operating a PartyLite Biz mlm business.
It makes you wonder what PartyLite is trying to hide?
You must carefully consider and compare PartyLite Biz opportunity with other home-based business opportunities before joining.
You can use My #1 Business Opportunity to make a comparison.
How To Join PartyLite Biz?
PartyLite is an mlm. You must have a sponsor to join PartyLite Biz.
It is easy to find a current PartyLite consultant online, then registered through that referral website, or you can register at the PartyLite’s website without a consultant and the company will assign you one.
However, to build a business and make money with PartyLite Biz, you are required to purchase one of the three starter kits, remain active, and qualified for commissions. I’ll discuss all of this in the following sections of this PartyLite Biz review.
How Much Does It Cost To Join PartyLite Biz?
The cost to join PartyLite Biz is $49, $99, or $350, depending on the starter kit you purchased.
These starter kits contain products and marketing materials for you to launch your PartyLite Biz. The more expensive the kit, the more products you received.
Besides the starter kit cost, you must maintain an active and qualified status to make money with PartyLite Biz.
A new consultant becomes a “Qualified Consultant” when the new consultant submits a total of $2,000 in retail sales or more in the first full month in business.
PartyLite Biz requires all consultants to order a minimum of $900 or more each month to remain active.
There are other qualifications required for bonuses and team commissions, which I’ll discuss in the compensation plan section of this PartyLite Biz review.
As you can see, the cost to join PartyLite Biz is more than a starter kit. You must purchase products every month to stay active and qualified to receive the commissions.
PartyLite Biz is a Pay and Play business opportunity. If you want to earn, you have to pay.
Any consultant fails to maintain an active and qualified status is not allowed to receive bonuses and commissions.
The expenses above do not include your time, the marketing costs, travel expenses, and gas.
Purchasing PartyLite Biz products to meet the monthly qualified requirements can destroy your business profits if you cannot resell them. They become business losses.
Other home-based businesses, such as Affiliate Marketing, you earn the commission on every sale, no need to be active and qualified.
To understand why mlm companies, such as PartyLite Biz, require consultants to stay active and qualified, you should read our discussion on the FTC MLM Guideline for more information.
PartyLite Biz Compensation Plan
The PartyLite compensation plan is a bit confusing and complicated. Therefore, the company offers a simple version of the compensation plan on its website. I think this is intentional.
I’ll try to provide a quick explanation of the PartyLite compensation plan below. To see the full version, you can download a copy by click on the link.
As a PartyLite Biz consultant, you have two ways to make money: selling products and/or recruiting others to join your team.
Make Money Selling PartyLite Biz
You earn retail commissions by purchasing products to resell or by selling directly from your own PartyLite Biz replicated website.
You start out with a 25% based commission. When your sales volume for the month reaches $2,000 or more, you will receive an additional 7% bonus commission for meeting the sales quota.
So as a consultant, you have an opportunity to earn up to 32% retail commission.
It sounds easy, right? But, can you sell PartyLite candles on the market?
I did a quick search on eBay, the famous site for dumping mlm products. I found over 4,000 PartyLite candles with a starting price less than $1.
This tells us many consultants dumping their PartyLite products on eBay to recover the costs because they cannot sell them at the suggested retail price.
Overpriced is the reason many consultants have a hard time making money with PartyLite Biz.
Make Money Recruiting Others
As long as you remain active and qualified, here are the options for you to make money recruiting others.
Team Leader Commission
PartyLite Biz offers a 3% team leader profit on your team total sales volume if you are a qualified consultant.
To qualify for this commission, a consultant must be active and personally sponsored 2 active consultants who are qualified.
United Leader Commission
Unit Leaders receive a 7% commission on the total sales volume of the team.
However, you must be a qualified consultant by maintaining an active status with at least $1,400 monthly personal order and personally sponsored 4 active consultants who are qualified.
Group Leader Commission
Your team grows and break away every time one of your personally sponsored consultant achieves a Unit Leader. When this happens, you will earn a 4% Group Unit Leader commission up to 8 first-level Unit Leader groups.
There are other leadership bonuses and incentives which require more purchasing of PartyLite overpriced products to qualify. You should read the compensation plan to learn the detail.
As you can see, there are multiple ways to earn with PartyLite Biz. But to get paid, you must purchase products to maintain an active and qualified status.
This is how mlm works. Ways to earn is not the same as qualifying to receive the money.
You can potentially earn nothing with PartyLite Biz because the cost of purchasing products to remain active and qualified might exceed the commissions received.
Can You Make Money With PartyLite Biz?
To answer this question, you have to look at the PartyLite Biz income disclosure statement (IDS), not the compensation.
Because the IDS is a financial document that reports consultants’ income for the prior year.
Mlm company with high consultant failure rates rarely publishes the income disclosure statement. This might be the case with PartyLite Biz.
So, how do you get a copy of the IDS?
You can request one at the time of enrollment. The law requires PartyLite Biz to provide you a copy together with the compensation plan.
As a business review writer, I look to the actual incomes to evaluate a business opportunity.
If PartyLite Biz refuses to provide you a copy of the income disclosure statement, don’t join. This is a bad sign. It might be a scam.
But you don’t need a copy of the IDS to know that 99% of mlm businesses failed.
Because the PartyLite Biz compensation plan is not designed for you to make money. It’s designed for PartyLite Biz to sell products.
Just go back and review the compensation plan discussion above, why you think consultants must maintain an active and qualified status to earn commissions?
Is PartyLite Biz A Scam?
PartyLite Biz is in the business to sell candles, not for you to make money. But this doesn’t make PartyLite Biz a scam.
PartyLite Biz is a business opportunity. Every business has risks.
You are responsible to carefully research, study, and investigate the PartyLite Biz business opportunity before joining.
Reading this PartyLite Biz Review is a good way to learn the risks and rewards associated with this home-based business opportunity.
Many entrepreneurs hire professional financial analysts to evaluate business profits and losses before investing.
As the owner of an Online Business Review, I have evaluated hundreds of mlm businesses to help investors identified and discover the right home-based business opportunity to invest.
As a business opportunity, PartyLite Biz is not a scam. It is a risk and unprofitable business opportunity.
Is PartyLite MLM A Pyramid Scheme?
PartyLite Biz is a legit mlm company if they follow the FTC guideline.
But I don’t invest in a business based on the laws.
I look at the compensation plan and the consultants’ income to evaluate an investment opportunity.
If you look at the PartyLite compensation plan, consultants are forced to purchase overpriced products to earn commissions.
Recruiting is the best option to make money, not selling products.
The more people you recruit, the more money you make. This is how a pyramid is built.
Every consultant becomes a customer of PartyLite Biz, purchasing products to stay active and qualified.
PartyLite Biz doesn’t look like an mlm. It’s more like a pyramid scheme.
Well, you don’t have to agree with me.
But you can’t deny that it’s not easy to make money as a PartyLite consultant, and the compensation plan was designed to turn you into a customer, not a business owner.
Is PartyLite Biz Worth It?
If you use PartyLite Biz candles and fragrance products, joining PartyLite Biz might be worth it, for the discounts.
But as a home-based business opportunity, I don’t think PartyLite Biz worth it. It is unlikely that you will achieve your financial dream with this opportunity.
However, the decision to join PartyLite Biz is yours to make.
Let me ask you this,

To earn extra money from home, to be your own boss, or to achieve financial freedom?
And to make money, we invest in a PROFITABLE business!

There’s NO traveling around town to attend late-night meetings and NO face-to-face sales or recruits with my online business.
The best part, you are working on the computer in your own home or anywhere you like.
One thing that PartyLite Biz rarely discusses with new consultants is “Business Control”.
As a PartyLite Biz consultant, you must obey PartyLite Biz rules and policies to stay in business.
You have ZERO control over what products to sell or how to promote your business.
What happens if PartyLite Biz quits the mlm business or goes under?
You are out of business! This business risk is real. You lose everything and nothing you can do about it.
You start a business to build long-term incomes.
You want to create a system that generates money far into the future. Isn’t this the #1 reason you want to build a successful business?

Can you write?

I am not a big fan of mlm opportunity, because this business model is designed to turn people into customer, not business owner.
When PartyLite Biz refuses to release the income disclosure statement, you should know they are trying to hide something.
Why do you want to start a business with a company that doesn’t want you to know the truth?
I don’t think you are going to get rich with PartyLite Biz.
There are much better home-based business opportunities compared to PartyLite Biz.
But this is your call.
I hope this PartyLite Biz review answers your question whether PartyLite mlm, a scam or legit?
Until next time.
