What Is Avoya Travel?
Avoya Travel is a hosted travel agency which means they offer travel services through an independent network of travel agents.
The company is an American Express Representative for more than 30 years.
Avoya Travel’s main business is to help people start their own travel agency from home.
Avoya Travel was founded by Pal Anderson in 1960 as Anderson Travel agency.
In late 1990, the company became a hosted travel agency. The company changed its name to America’s Vacation Center focusing on selling one product, cruises.
The company changed its name again in 2011 to Avoya Travel and began expanding its product by adding tours, river cruises, and all-inclusive resorts.
At the time of writing this Avoya Travel review, the company’s annual estimated sales revenue is $363 Million.
Avoya Travel network has over 1,350 Independent Travel Agents operating worldwide.
A disadvantage of being an Avoya Travel agent is low commission. The company offers a 30/70 split. Be prepared to work long hours and book a lot of cruises and earn a small commission.
You must compare Avoya Travel with other home-based opportunities before investing.

How To Become an Avoya Travel Agent?
You can apply to become an Avoya Travel Agent by visiting the company website and submit your request to talk with an Affiliation Specialist.
The interview with the Affiliation Specialist is a sales pitch to get your investment.
Avoya Travel will provide the education and training resources to help you launch your own travel agency.
However, you must be willing to invest a lot of time and money to build a successful business with Voya Travel.
How Much Does It Cost To Join Avoya Travel?
The cost to join Avoya Travel is $495. This is a single payment to start an Independent Agency with Avoya Travel.
Every month Avoya Travel Agents are required to pay $49 to access the training lessons, business tool, and booking site. However, this fee is waived if the agent produces $1,000 or more in gross sales for the month.
Each Independent Travel Agency must also pay a $99 annual renewal fee to stay in business and booking through Avoya.
When you add up all the fees, the actual cost to join Avoya Travel is $1,182.
Some Avoya Travel Agents operate the business from their own home, while others open a small travel agency office.
If you are planning to open a small office, your cost will be more than the total above.
You will likely need to have money available for marketing and office rents.
Remember, the expenses above do not include your time working on building the business.
These expenses can destroy your business profits if you are unable to generate enough cruise and tour bookings.
There are other home-based businesses that require far less investment to start.
I launched my Affiliate Marketing business for less than $300.

How Much Do Avoya Travel Agent Make?
Avoya Travel Agents earn a low 30% commission on every cruise or tour that they have booked.
To understand how much an agent makes, you need to understand the travel industry commission structure.
On average, a cruise or tour company pays between 10% to 16% commission based on the booking volume generated by the travel agency.
As a representative of the American Express Travel Company, Avoya Travel received a 16% commission for every sale generated by its independent travel agency. Avoya Travel then split this commission 30/70 with its independent agents.
Let put this into dollars and cents.
You, an agent of Avoya Travel, sold a tour package for $2,000. Avoya Travel received a $320 (16%) commission from America Express Travel. You received $96 (30% of $320) from this sale.
If you want to make $1,000 a month as Avoya Travel Agent, you will have to generate at least $20,834 in sales.
I hope you can see that it is not easy to make money as an Avoya Travel Agent.
As an affiliate marketer, I make between 50% to 70% commission on each sale. It is easy to make $10,000 to $15,000 per month with affiliate marketing.
Is Avoya Travel A Scam?
I cannot tell you that Avoya Travel is a scam. But I can tell you this, Avoya Travel is not a good and profitable business opportunity.

Please share your own Avoya Travel experience below.
I have been with Avoya Travel since 2012 and never regretted this decision.
The company is always there to assist agents.
Thank you for your input and review of Avoya Travel.
I affiliated my agency with Avoya 13 years ago and have never looked back. This year, I generated $2 million in travel sales (mostly cruises). What you fail to mention is Avoya pays 80% of the commission for personal clients. Yes, they pay 30% on clients they generate, but they handle all the advertising, which clearly has a cost (hefty cost for advertising to the right markets!). They also provide excellent support and pay every Thursday. I have been a travel agent for 42 years and have never regretted joining Avoya Travel.
Nice to have an insider review. We do understand successful agents are working with Avoya. However, this number is small.
I joined Avoya 1.5 years ago and have never regretted it. Their support is top notch. Their leads are good leads. As another reader has said, you failed to say that our own leads obtained by us are paid out at 80% which is a large part of our cruise business so actually, I’m doing very well. Yes, the first year costs to set up a business but that’s with any business. Actually, costs are much less than if you were to buy a franchise and following their rules of purchasing all supplies through them, refurbishing when required, etc. I”m extremely happy being an independent agent of Avoya.
