Is AWAI Legit – AWAI Review

The American Writers & Artist Inc. (AWAI) offers a training program to turn average people into well-paid copywriters.

A few online writers attest AWAI is a legit and the best copywriter training program to help them find success.

Others not so much. They cry AWAI a scam, fraud, and hoax.

Either way, the reason we interest in AWAI is because of this statement, “work for yourself at home and make six figures writing sales letters.”

Is AWAI for real?

  • AWAI is well-known for its copywriter training program known as “Accelerated Program for Six-Figure Copywriting.”
  • The program claims you can make a Six-Figure income from home by writing simple sales letters.
  • However, success with AWAI is not a guarantee. Not everyone who completed the training becomes a successful copywriter.
  • The AWAI copywriting training program consists of an online self-study guide of more than 586 pages, videos, a member forum, support, and a job board.
  • It is expensive to train with AWAI. I’ll break down the costs later in this review.
  • Copywriting is an art, and not everyone can become a good copywriter. It’s like taking an art class. Not everyone in the class becomes a well-paid artist.
  • You don’t have to be a copywriter to make money online. Many well-paid bloggers are not copywriters. They just love to write.

What Is AWAI?

AWAI is known as “American Writers & Artist Inc.” It is not a school. The training program teaches people the art of copywriting.

A successful writer, Mark Ford aka “Michael Masterson”, found the AWAI in 1997 to help people start a career as a copywriter.

Besides training lessons, AWAI also offers support, member forums, and job placement for its writers.

AWAI offers different writing courses. The most well know are the Accelerated Program for Six-Figure Copywriting and the Master’s Program for Six-Figure Copywriting.

Accelerated Program for Six Figure Copywriting

This course is an introduction to the art of copywriting.

The training manual consists of more than 586 pages. It teaches the fundamentals of copywriting.

You learn how to create catchy headlines, how to grab readers’ attention, and the importance of flow and structure so it’s easy to read.

At the end of each lesson, you are given assignments to practice your writing.

The annual provides tons of examples to help you create your very first copywriting letter.

You are not going to become a master copywriter after taking this introductory class.

This accelerated program is designed to lay the foundation for you to start a new career as a copywriter.

The Masters Program for Six-Figure Copywriting

This masters program goes beyond the fundamentals to teach you the industry’s secrets to become the best copywriter.

It reveals deeper and more sophisticated copywriter techniques for you to achieve the ultimate connection with readers.

You learn to write a sales letter that is irresistible and generates more sales for your clients.

According to AWAI, the masters program will turn you into an “A” Level copywriter, which allows you to demand higher pay.

As you can see, AWAI is a training program for those interested in becoming a copywriter.

Copywriting is an art that requires continuous learning and practice to master the skill.

But you don’t have to become a copywriter to make money from home. As a blog writer, I make as much or even more money than copywriters.

AWAI Pricing Guide

A few well-known copywriters such as Dan Furman and Brian Clark have told us the cost for AWAI copywriting training is inexpensive.

Then you have online complaints claiming AWAI courses are not legit and a waste of money.

I’ll let you be the judge of this.

The Accelerated Program for Six-Figure Copywriting costs $497. You can pay this on a monthly installment of $99.

AWAI does offer a $100 discount if you choose to pay the full price at the time of registration.

My friends told me the same AWAI training manual on eBay costs $50. But you are missing the support and job placement assistance.

The Master Program for Six-Figure Copywriting costs $1,150. You have to pay the full price. AWAI doesn’t offer a discount or install payment for this program.

The total cost for the AWAI copywriting training program is $1,647. This is cheap compared to college courses.

I know a few people who had paid over $3,000 for one copywriting class with a local university.

AWAI Money Back Guarantee

AWAI offers a 30-day full refund for both Six-Figure Copywriting courses.

According to AWAI, you can return these courses for any reason to get your money back.

It seems the AWAI money-back guarantee is legit. There is no complaint against AWAI for non-refund. We’ll discuss a few complaints against AWAI in the next section.

Is the AWAI Legit?

There is nothing to indicate AWAI as a scam. This is a legit copywriting training program.

When you purchase a copywriting course from AWAI, you will receive the training manual and support while learning the skill. The program even offers a 30-day money-back. All these offers are real and legit.

There are a few online complaints of AWAI as a scam. Let look at them to see if they are legit complaints.

AWAI Complaints

I first visit the BBB to search for complaints against the American Writers & Artists, Inc.

I found the company has an A+ rating.

This company only has two complaints filed last year, which were resolved quickly by AWAI.

I am unable to find anything from the BBB that shows AWAI as a scam.

So, I search online for negative reviews of AWAI. Here are the top complaints:

AWAI is not a legit school and no real certificate

You normally don’t receive a certificate of completion from an online training program.

Besides, why do you need a piece of paper saying you have completed a course. I don’t see any value in this.

A lot of online professional training programs are not offered by schools. This doesn’t make them illegal or scam.

No Legit Testimonial of Success

I will direct you to two very successful copywriters who claim to have taken courses from AWAI.

You can Google these guys online to read about their businesses and stories.

Dan Furman is a very successful and well-paid copywriter. He told the world that he learned copywriting techniques from AWAI.

Brian Clark, the founder of the Copyblogger, is another AWAI success story. He sure can tell you how much he makes as a digital copywriter.

These guys have their own copywriting business online. I don’t know how more legit people want.

AWAI Unauthorized Credit Card Charge

“Just discovered an unauthorized charge from AWAI on my debit card. I don’t know how they got my debit card #. F…kin thieves!!! Reported to the bank AND to the police/FBI as it happened online, thus is a Federal crime!”

OK, one time I discovered an authorized charge on my credit card from Amazon. I contacted the company and quickly found out someone used my card to make a purchase. It had nothing to do with Amazon.

Credit card thieves are real. It has nothing to do with the online merchant. They are victims too.

This complaint doesn’t seem legit to me. A smart person would contact AWAI to find out who made the unauthorized charge. Because if someone stole your bank card, reporting to the bank and the FBI doesn’t stop the thief from using the card again.

Plus, AWAI has a 30-day money-back guarantee. Why didn’t this person contact the company?

You must be careful when reading online reviews. Sometimes the reviews are fake.

Negative or fake reviews of AWAI are created to sell you something else. This is known as bait and switch marketing.

As a Business Review writer, I have evaluated hundreds of home-based business opportunities to expose scams. I can tell you the AWAI is a legit training program.

I must warn you, “not everyone will make money after completing the AWAI program.”

You are learning a skill. What you do with this new skill is up to you.

You don’t need to learn Copywriting to get paid as a writer. I didn’t!

Is The AWAI Copywriting Course Worth It?

Don’t buy this training program if you are not ready to learn Copywriting.

You must be committed to learning. The AWAI teaches you a skill that you can use to make money.

Copywriting is an art. You must have some talent in writing to become an “A” class copywriter.

If you buy this program because copywriters are in high demand and well-paid, please don’t waste your money.

To become a well-paid and high-demand copywriter, you must first become a class “A” copywriter. This means you must master the art of copywriting first. Let me assure you, this doesn’t happen overnight.

There are lots of ways for a writer to make money. You need to decide what type of writer you want to be because not every client needs a copywriter.

  1. As a professional writer, I joined AWAI two years ago to explore other writing opportunities. My chief complaint is that the organization has a very aggressive approach to selling expensive courses, which begins the moment you join. I would prefer a more humane, consultative approach.
