I don’t understand why so many women love the MLM business.
A long-time friend invited me out for coffee. Suddenly, she started pitching about Limelife.
I allowed her to finish and told her that MLM Limelife is a scam. She got very upset and left without saying good bye.

What Is Limelife by Alcone?
Limelife by Alcone started out as a family-owned small store in New York City selling makeup to starlets in 1952 by Alvin Cohen.
The most popular Limelife product lines include makeup and natural skincare.
The company started offering an MLM opportunity in 2013 under the brand Alcone for Everyone.
By 2015, Alcone for Everyone was renamed LimeLight by Alcone and added natural luxury skincare to their product lines.
The company merged with L’Occitane in 2017 and rebranded the company, Limelife by Alcone.
At the time of writing this Limelife review, the company sales revenue is estimated at $3 million.
You can start your own beauty business by becoming a Limelife beauty guide.
It’s not easy to make money with Limelife MLM because of the monthly sales quota. We’ll discuss more in the compensation plan section/

How To Join Limelife?
The process to join Limelife is simple.
First, you need to find a sponsor. This can be done by hosting a home party or request a private meeting with a Limelife Beauty Guide.
Your sponsor will help you select a starter kit, submit an application, and train you.
Your sponsor is your upline (leader). This person earns override commissions from your business activities.
Besides purchasing a starter kit, you are required to meet a monthly sales quota to earn all commissions.
Now, let look at the costs to join Limelife.
How Much Does Limelife Cost?
The initial cost to join Limelife is $99 or $169, depending on the Business Starter Kit that you select.
Each kit includes Limelife products and marketing materials for you to promote and recruit others.
You are also required to pay $9.95 per month for a replicated Limelife website and $75 annually to renew your MLM business.
The cost to join Limelife is not much.
However, you need to be concerned with the monthly cost to main the business.
Limelife Beauty Guides are required to order at least $300 of Limelife products every month. Those who fail to meet this requirement are considered inactive and do not qualify for commissions.
As you can see, it costs $169 to join Limelife.
But it costs $3,794.40 per year to keep your Limelife MLM business.
I hate MLM because of the monthly minimum order requirement. It’s designed to force you to purchase Limelife products.
Think about it. Why do you have to pay Limelife a monthly fee to promote and sell products? Limelife should be paying you.
As an Affiliate Marketer, companies pay me to promote their products on the internet.
The minimum monthly order is used by MLM companies to avoid being classified as a pyramid scheme. You should read our discussion on MLM vs. Affiliate Marketing to learn more.
Limelife Compensation Plan Review
Limelife’s compensation plan is long, uses complicated technical terms most people won’t understand.
I’m going to highlight the main parts for you so it’s easier to understand.
Let look at the leadership rank. The Limelife compensation plan offers the following ranks:
- Beauty Guide in Training
- Beauty Guide
- Lead Guide
- Star Beauty Guide
- Director
- Lead Director
- Star Director
- Senior Director
There are two options to make money with Limelife:
- 1. Sell products to earn commissions.
- 2. Build teams to earn residual income from downline sales and purchases.
Let talk more about them.
Product Sales Commission
Limelife states that Beauty Guides can earn up to 35% sales commission.
The sales commission rate is calculated based on your monthly Personal Retail Value (PRV).
Newly enrolled Beauty Guides start at the base commission of 20%.
The sales commission increases an additional 5% as the monthly PRV increased.
You should know most MLM programs don’t allow distributors to sell their products through online discount marketplaces, like eBay.
Limelife by Alcone beauty guides are required to sell products through in-home parties. These parties are designed to recruit not to sell products.
Do you remember earlier I told you that all beauty guides must order $300 per month to remain active?
So, every beauty guide you recruited will generate a $300 recurring monthly revenue for your business.
If you want to make money with Limelife, you must focus on team building, not selling products.
Team Commissions
Team commissions are awarded based on the following conditions:
- You must recruit at least 1 active beauty guide.
- You maintain the $300 monthly order requirement.
- The team commission is calculated using the Bonus Value (BV). A $100 Limelife products purchased generate about S70 BV.
Once you are qualified, you can earn these team commissions:
Enroller Bonus
You receive a 5% BV Enroller Bonus on the sales volume of all your personally sponsor beauty guides.
Leadership Bonus
In addition to the requirement above, you must achieve the rank of Beauty Guide to qualify.
This bonus is paid based on your rank.
- Beauty guides earn a 3% BV commission on level 1.
- Lead Beauty Guides earn 3% on level 1 and level 2.
- Star Beauty Guides earn 3% level 1, 2, and 3.
- Directors earn a 3% BV commission up to 4 levels.
Certified Mentor Bonus
This bonus is only available to Star Beauty Guides who have completed the Mentor Certification Program.
Certified mentors receive a special 2% BV Bonus on the sales of everyone who joins their team after being certified.
There are other leadership bonuses with a higher level of sales volume requirement. You can check the Limelife compensation plan to learn more.
I hope you can see this compensation plan is designed to sell Limelife products, not to help you make money.
Once you join Limelife, you are committed to order at least $300 of products every month, even you cannot resell them.
You will end up with a garage full of Limelife cosmetics and skincare products.
Can You Make Money with Limelife?
According to the Limelife income disclosure statement, the average monthly income for Beauty Guides in training is $49.49 and $144.01 for Beauty Guides.
The incomes above are before taking out expenses.
Limelife Beauty Guides are required to spend $300 per month on products while taking in only $144.01. This analysis shows us, you cannot make money with Limelife by Alcone.
It is normal for a small group at the top of Limelife MLM to make a lot of money. But it’s no easy for the beauty guides in training.
This shows you that 99% of MLM business owners make no money.
How can you make money when the compensation plan forces you to purchase more products than you can sell?
Is Limelife A Scam?
I say Limelife is a scam.
Many of you might disagree with me because Limelife is a business opportunity.
Every business opportunity has risks.
But Limelife MLM is not a business opportunity.
The compensation plan was designed to sell Limelife products to Beauty Guides.
Limelife doesn’t look for business partners. The company uses the ‘MLM Opportunity’ to build loyal customers.
Beauty Guides are the primary customers of Limelife. They are purchasing products every month to maintain an active status.
I would not recommend Limelife to anyone.
As a Business Review writer, I have evaluated hundreds of home-based and MLM business opportunities to expose scams.
I must say, Limelife is a scam. This MLM is not a good business opportunity.
Is Limelife A Pyramid Scheme?
I believe all MLMs are pyramid schemes.
Limelife beauty guides make money through team building, not selling products.
The more people you bring in, the more money you make.
People at the top of the team (the Pyramid) earned big residual incomes. While news distributors earned little or nothing.
Limelife is a pyramid scheme.
You don’t have to agree with me.
But you can’t deny that the Limelife compensation plan is not designed for you to make money. It’s designed to convert you into a customer.
Is Limelife Worth It?
I have nothing against Limelife MLM. I just don’t believe in MLMs.
I do see there are a few good things about Limelife:
- The cosmetics and skincare products are legit.
- It’s cheap to start your own business.
- Every Beauty Guide receives a personal replicated Limelife website.
- Limelife by Alcone is a well-established company.
But as a business opportunity, Limelife is not worth it.
- You are forced to purchase Limelife products every month.
- The compensation plan is designed to recruit loyal customers, not business partners.
- Low cost to start, but expensive to stay in business.
- Most Limelife MLM business owners make little or no money.
- Your chance of achieving financial success is less than 1%, low ROI.
Buying products every month for a chance to earn commissions is not a good business opportunity.
