Survey Junkie Review – Is Survey Junkie Legit, Safe Or Scam?

Ever wonder why so many survey sites claim that you can make hundreds of dollars in your spare time taking their surveys?

Simple answer, they lie to get you joining. The more people join, the more money they make. I’ll explain later in this Survey Junkie Review.

Survey Junkie is the first to tell you the truth: “You will not get rich taking surveys!”

They are not doing this out of honesty, but rather in responding to customer complaints against the low pay rate associated with taking online surveys.

Many people jump into taking surveys thinking this is going to be a quick and easy way to make money online. However, they quickly realize this is all just a big marketing hype. The whole thing is a waste of time.

You will never make a full-time income taking surveys.

However, if you are looking to make a few dollars and kill time, then joining sites like Survey Junkie can be an excellent way to achieve this goal.

Beside Survey Junkie, I suggest you also check out others popular survey sites, including InboxDollars, Swagbucks, MyPoints, and Global Test Market to find the right one for yourself.

In this Survey Junkie review, I’ll share with you, how online survey works? How much money can you earn? How to get paid? And ways to maximize earnings with Survey Junkie.

The Survey Junkie Company

Survey Junkie considers itself as “one of the top and most popular online survey sites to earn money for sharing your opinions.”

According to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), SurveyJunkie.com is owned and operated by the Blue Media Ventures which was incorporated in CA on 1/3/2011. The company headquarters locates at 1200 S Brand Blvd # 200, Glendale, CA 91204-2641.

There has been some misinformation regarding Survey Junkie as a research recruitment arm of DISQO. This is not correct. Furthermore, Survey Junkie was not found in 2005. The website was launched in 2011.

Survey Junkie is a digital marketing company that allows brands to distribute their surveys directly to their consumers.

This survey community has about 3 million members which are far less than InboxDollars (10 million) and Swagbucks (50 million).

Even though Survey Junkie claims to be one of the top survey sites, but their business data indicate that it is a small advertising company with only 8 employees and an annual sales revenue of less than $1 million dollars.

Survey Junkie Special Features

Unlike other survey companies, Survey Junkie is strictly a survey site. You will not find other rewards, like playing games, watching videos, reading emails, or surfing the web on this platform.

Being an absolute survey site has its own benefits. Survey Junkie always has surveys available for members to participate.

The hardest part with paid surveys is available. Many survey sites do not have enough surveys for members to earn extra money. Constantly searching for surveys is the most frustrating and time-consuming process of taking surveys for cash.

However, as a member of Survey Junkie, you will have enough surveys to keep busy.

Here How Survey Junkie Works?

The process of joining Survey Junkie is no different from joining other legit survey sites.

First, you have to register for a free account and completing a profile before taking surveys to earn points. Later you can redeem points for gift cards or cash.

Here is a closer look at the steps to become a Survey Junkie member.

Survey Junkie Membership Eligibility

Survey Junkie only accepts residents from the United States, Canada, and Australia.

Residents of other countries that do not include on the list above can register with Survey Junkie with a valid email. However, you will have a problem with cashing out your earnings.

The other requirement is that you must be 13 years or older.

If you meet these two conditions and have a valid email address, you can sign up for an account with Survey Junkie.

Sign Up with Survey Junkie

The entire process of getting a free account with Survey Junkie takes about 2 minutes or less.

When you visit the Survey Junkie website, click on the “Join Now” button will give you three options to sign up: register with an email, Google, or Facebook account.

Most people choose to register with a Facebook or Google account for quick and convenient.

Registering with an email takes a little more time for setting up a new password and confirm your email.

Once you have completed the setup process, Survey Junkie reward you 25 points (25 cents). I’ll explain the points to cash conversation later. Jump to that section now.

The next step is completing your profile. Survey Junkie use this personal profile to identify and offer surveys that you might be qualified.

Filling Out A Profile

Creating an accurate profile is the first step to maximize your earnings with Survey Junkie.

These 16 profile questions are mostly about your demographic and household information. Providing answers to these questions will help Survey Junkie to decide which surveys you best qualify for.

Survey Junkie rewards member 50 points ($0.50) for completing the profile.

Completing the profile is the last step to register for a free account with Survey Junkie. NOW, you are ready to earn some money.

Survey Junkie Reward System Review

Before talking about ways to make money, let first discuss the reward system to give you a better understanding of what Survey Junkie will pay you for taking surveys.

Survey Junkie uses the points system to pay you for your time, rather than direct cash like InboxDollars.

You earn a set amount of points, which appear immediately in your account, for each activity completed.

Earned points are never expired if you complete at least one survey within a 12-month period.

The extra step that you have to perform under this reward system is converting points into cash, which I’ll discuss later in the Cash Out section of this Survey Junkie Review.

Survey Junkie uses a simple 1 to 1 conversion rate. This means for 1 point you get 1 cent, or 100 points equal $1.

Now you understand how points reward works, let review all the options to make money with Survey Junkie.

Ways to Earn Extra Cash with Survey Junkie

As stated above, Survey Junkie is a strictly surveys platform, therefore the options to earn money are limited. Here they are.

Earn points for a new account

Survey Junkie pays you to become a member. Here’s what you will earn for opening a free account:

  • You earn 25 points ($0.25) for signing up
  • Another 25 points ($0.25) are earned when you confirm your email
  • Survey Junkie pays 50 points ($0.50) upon completing the profile
  • You earn an additional 5 points ($0.05) if taking the “How it Works” tour

You got paid $1.05 (105 points) for registering an account with Survey Junkie. This survey site offers you an additional 4 more questions which pay 10 points each.

Answering these 4 additional questions gives you a better chance to qualify for higher paying surveys. These are:

  • Technology Profile
  • Shopping Profile
  • Health Profile
  • Additional Household Profile

If you completed all the additional profiles above, you make another $0.40 (40 points) which bring your total earning of $1.45 ($1.05+$0.40)

Make Money Taking Surveys

Taking surveys to earn extra money for a cup of coffee is the main reason for joining Survey Junkie. If this is not, then click here to discover other options to make a full-time income online.

Survey Junkie offers members two ways to take surveys. Members can sign in to their account and see the surveys, or members can click on the email link that Survey Junkie sent out based on the individual profile.

Every survey comes with clear information on the completion time and the number of points. Points are rewarded instantly upon completing the survey.

To maximize your earnings, you should check the Survey Junkie website regularly and don’t wait for the email. High paying surveys are filled up quickly. It is important to jump on a survey as soon as it becomes available. Regularly checking the survey site is the best way to snatch the best surveys to earn some money.

The payment for completing a survey is between 15 to 190 points ($0.15 – $1.90), depending on the length and complexity of the survey.

The high-paying surveys, 190 points and above, are rare. You should try to jump on them as quick as you can.

Starting a survey does not mean you can finish. It is possible to be disqualified in the middle of a survey. This is very annoying.

However, Survey Junkies still pays 2 to 3 points even if you are disqualified, or the survey has filled up. This is a unique way to encourage members continuing taking surveys.

Other issues that you will have to face with paid surveys is availability. Do expect to have a runout.

What’s different with Survey Junkie is by refreshing the page or come back later, you will find new surveys to complete. You don’t have to wait for days like other survey sites.

Overall, it is a great platform to earn a few bucks taking surveys. However, it pays points, not real money.

If you’d prefer money over points, then check out InboxDollars or Ebates.

Make Money Joining Focus Group

Survey Junkie offers every member the opportunity to make money by joining a focus group or third-party panels.

If you got invited to one of the groups, you can earn anywhere between $50 to $75 cash.

There are two ways to participate in a focus group:

The first group is products testing. Companies will invite you and sent the testing products to your home for evaluation. Upon completing the product test, you have to answer some questions related to the functionalities of the product and needed improvements.

The other group is a face-to-face interview. This an opportunity for you to express your opinion in a group setting. It is very informal. Participating in this focus group receives top pay, $75 and up.

If you receive an invitation to participate in one of these focus groups, then take it!

Get Paid for Referrals

Survey Junkie pays at least $1.50 for each referral. This payment is in real money, not points.

However, this option is not available to regular members. You must have a website or an online business to become an affiliate of Survey Junkie.

This is how people make a full-time income with paid surveys. It has nothing to do with taking surveys.

If you want to learn more about how you can make serious money referring people to Survey Junkie, click for a detailed review.

As a member of Survey Junkie, you only have three options to make money: get paid for setting up an account, make money taking surveys, and get paid participated in a focus group.

Most members make money taking surveys because the focus groups are by invitation only, and there is not a lot of them available for members to earn money.

Basically, taking surveys is your only option to earn money with Survey Junkie.

How Much Can You Earn with Survey Junkie?

Here is the answer taking from Survey Junkie Popular FAQ page:

You will NOT get rich by taking surveys. The rewards for each survey will vary but with commitment and regular participation, you’ll have the opportunity to earn extra cash each month.

All those survey sites that claim their members making hundreds or thousands taking surveys are lying. Survey Junkie is telling the truth.

Yes, taking surveys might be a simple and easy option to make money, but it pays pennies. This is why survey companies use points instead of cash rewards. With points, it sounds like you earn a lot, but it takes forever to earn your first $10.

So, the reality is that if you want to make a few bucks with your free times, then join Survey Junkie. However, if you want to earn a full-time income online, then you will never achieve this dream by taking surveys.

The most lucrative way to make money online is Affiliate Marketing, which I’ll discuss in the last section of this Survey Junkie Review. This is how affiliates make money with survey sites. You can jump to that section now.

How to Cash Out with Survey Junkie?

The cashout process with Survey Junkie is simple and easy. The minimum cash out requirement is 1,000 points which are about $10 dollars.

You have two options to select a payout: redeem points for e-gift cards or redeem points for money deposit into your PayPal account.

The difference between these payout options is:

Cash Redemption: selecting this option you have to cash out all your points. No partial point cash out is allowed. If you have 2,000 points, you must cash out all $20.

E-Gift Card Redemption: partially cash out is allowed under this option. The lowest gift card denomination is $10. If you have 2,000 points, you can select an e-gift card for $10, $15, or $20.

Any points remained in the account after partial redemption will not expire as long as the member take a survey within 12 months.

Is Survey Junkie legit, Safe or a Scam?

This is a common question for many people looking for opportunities to make money online. I understand everyone worrying about having their personal information stolen by scammers.

I have an account with Survey Junkie, and I can tell you with confidence that Survey Junkie is legit, safe, and not a scam. This is a legit way to make money online.

Even though this is a legit business, there are a few complaints that I believe people need to pay attention and take note of.

These complaints are common complaints with every survey site. However, they provide a quick view of what other people say about their experiences with Survey Junkie.

The complaints below are taken from Trustpilot. If you like to read an update on any of the complaints, please visit Trustpilot.

Not receiving payment

There are a few complaints against Survey Junkie for not paying members their earned cash and/or gift cards. This to me is a red flag and never a good sign.

However, Survey Junkie has a policy that you must contact customer support within 24 if not receiving points or cash out. It seems many did not follow the instruction.

Why these people did not contact support first before filing a scam complaint.

Account Suspension.

There have been complaints by some member that their accounts were suspended for no reason, and they have lost all earnings. These complaints offer little information, so it is very difficult to understand the entire circumstance.

Like other survey sites, Survey Junkie has terms and conditions that members must follow. Any violation will result in account suspension.

Waste of time

Most of these complaints are related to survey disqualification. Many people feel unfair or being cheated after wasting 10 – 15 minutes with a survey to find out that they are not qualified. This is common with online surveys. It’s not a scam

As I have stated before, taking surveys is not a way to get rich online. There are other options available for you to check out. Click here to discover how to make money online.

There are more complaints and customer comments about Survey Junkie on Trustpilot. You should visit the site to view all of them. I just include a few complaints that seem important.

As you all know, I am not a big fan of taking surveys. I think is not a good use of your time. Here’s how I feel about Survey Junkie.

What Is Good at Survey Junkie?

  • I have to give this company a big thumb up for being honest and upfront about earnings with surveys. For sure, “you won’t get rich taking paid survey!”
  • It pays you joining. As stated above, you can make up to $1.45 or more just for signing up, a quick way to earn a buck.
  • The Survey Junkie reward system is straightforward, 1 for 1. A point worth 1 cent and there no need to learn a special conversion to figuring out what you have earned. What you see is what you get, easy and simple.
  • It is easy to cash out. You can choose cash or gift cards in exchange for your points. These are the best payout option for any survey site.

What Is Bad at Survey Junkie?

  • You can only earn money by taking surveys and no other option. It becomes very difficult to attain the minimum payout requirement, $10.
  • A lot of disqualifications are common issues with all paid surveys. This is the reason why you cannot make good money taking surveys.
  • You cannot join Survey Junkie if you are not a resident of the approved countries, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand.
  • Survey Junkie doesn’t have a mobile app. It is very slow and time-consuming to take surveys on a smartphone.

Is Survey Junkie Worth My Time?

My answer is no. You work hard and receive a few pennies.

Survey Junkie is for people that want to earn a few bucks with their free times, not people looking for a second income.

It doesn’t matter what I think. After all, this is a personal decision that you have to decide for yourself.

I only offer you the fact and information about Survey Junkie to help you make the final decision.

If you have already decided on taking surveys, here are a few more tips and hacks that I can offer to help you earn the most with Survey Junkie.

Survey Junkie Tips and Hacks

To help you start out right, here are a few tips and tricks to help you get the most out of Survey Junkie.

Don’t use personal email

I have two email accounts, one for personal and one for business. I use the business account to register with Survey Junkie. If you only have one email address, I suggest getting another one for taking surveys.

Trust me, you don’t want your personal email to be flooded with survey offers. Mixing your personal email with survey emails is not a good idea. Having a separate email account allows you to check survey opportunities faster and avoid the accidental delete of personal and important emails.

Complete the demographic questions.

The demographic surveys enable you to get more targeted surveys with higher pay. It is a good idea to complete them before taking surveys to maximize your earning potential. Also, this is an easy 25 points to earn.

Take the best offers first.

Quickly scan through your surveys to pick out the one with the best time and points offer to do first. Always jump on the high paying surveys because these are filling up very quickly.

Add Survey Junkie extension to the browser.

Adding extensions help target you for higher-paying surveys. You will also earn 20 points for each extension, quick and easy.

Don’t lie.

Survey Junkies has algorithms that can determine if you are just checking the box or really answering the questions. If they determine that you are not honest, you will get low quality and fewer surveys. So, take the time to mark the best answer.

Take surveys on your smartphone.

Even though Survey Junkie doesn’t have an app, you can still take surveys using your mobile phone. This way you can earn extra cash while waiting at the bus stop, at the doctor’s office, at your kids’ after-school activities, and on a lunch break.

The Best Way to Make Money with Survey Junkie

The best and most rewarding method to make money with Survey Junkie is through the referral program, not taking surveys.

Survey Junkie pays $1.50 for every new referral. If you refer 500 people to Survey Junkie, you just make $750 ($1.50 x 500). This is how I make money online.

I know, you must be thinking where do I find 500 people joining Survey Junkie every day? The answer is right here, people reading my review of Survey Junkie. This is called affiliate marketing or blogging.
