Flexjobs Review – Is FlexJobs Legit

I am writing this Flexjobs review in response to viewers’ requests from my earlier article: ‘Top Paying Online Jobs – The Quickest Way to Make Money Online.

Many viewers want to know if Flexjobs.com a scam or legit. They are interested in using this program to assist them in finding work from home.

Many also wonder whether it’s a good idea to pay for finding a job.

I understand people are uncomfortable with the concept of paying money to find work. It doesn’t seem right.

However, some people believe companies should charge job seekers for the convenience of viewing jobs from multiple sources all in one place, rather than charging employers to advertise.

Whether or not you agree with the idea of paying Flexjobs for accessing legitimate works, the concern here is about scams. People want to know if FlexJobs a scam or a legit business.

Writing is a wonderful way to make a living online. I don’t think you need to pay FlexJobs to find a writing job. If you want to make money as a writer, I suggest you read this FlexJobs Review to the end where I’ll share with you how to find a writing job online.

I have been working from home for years. I can’t remember how many times I’ve heard, “you should never pay to find a job. It is a scam!” Sadly, this statement is true most of the time.

However, there are times when you have to use a specialized job board to quickly find a legit job working from home. Can you do this with Flexjobs?

Today, there are so many online scams that make people pause and think before taking action.

A popular method to determine if an online service legit is “Reading Reviews.” My reviews have helped so many people to avoid falling victim to online scams. This is a way for me to help others, and I enjoy writing this FlexJobs review.

I hope this review will provide the answer to your question, is Flexjobs a scam or legit?

What Is FlexJobs?

FlexJobs was founded in 2007 by Sara Sutton after experienced a large number of scams she had to weave through to find a legitimate job that would allow her to work on a flexible schedule.

This is a subscription-based job board that focuses on work from home, flexible, part-time, and freelance work.

FlexJobs carefully hand-screened every employer and promises that the jobs you find on their site will be very flexible and completely scam-free.

The company also offers other job search-related features to justify the cost, including online resumé profiles, skills tests, and access to lots of job-search-related written content. See more below.

FlexJobs offers services to people looking for flexibility in a job, not work-at-home jobs. You will find most of the jobs offering flexible schedules, seasonal work, or alternative scheduling. If you are looking for work-from-home jobs, this website might not be the ideal place for you. Click here to learn how and where you can find work-at-home jobs.

Should You Pay FlexJobs to Find A Job?

I understand sometimes it does not feel normal to pay for getting a job. But in a certain situation, it might be a smart option.

Using specialty job sites will give you a better chance of landing the job of your dream, or a job that fits your schedule.

Many FlexJobs clients stated that the cost is justified because the company carefully screens every job to protect members from scams and unwanted advertisements. Flexjobs do the legwork so you can apply with confidence.

Furthermore, Flexjobs offers a few special features to help job seekers which you cannot find from free job board websites. I’ll discuss these in more detail below.

However, this might be true for those looking for flexibility in a job. It might not be beneficial for those looking to freelance or work from home.

Websites such as Fiverr might be a better choice for freelancers and work-at-home job seekers because these sites specifically cater to this group of people. They also offer special features and security measures to protect members from scams.

FlexJobs is best for those searching for jobs flexibly, it might not be a good investment for those seeking work at home.

FlexJobs Cost

FlexJobs offers three subscription plans to job seekers. The cheapest way to try and test FlexJobs is to buy a one-month subscription. You also have the option to upgrade to quarterly or annually.

Here are the prices for Flexjobs membership:

  • $14.95 per month
  • $29.95 for 3 months (one quarter)
  • $49.95 annually

The company does offer discount codes online on a certain special occasion. Discount offers are usually for a limited time, you can find the discount by visiting the Flexjobs website.

How Does FlexJobs Work?

First, you have to come to Flexjobs website to register for an account and provide basic login information.

Once you have verified the account, you can head to the page where you choose your membership package and pay by credit card or other online payment options.

After becoming a paid member, you are ready to start searching for jobs.

Setting Up Your Profile

Flexjobs suggests all members create a profile for potential employers to learn about them. You don’t have to create one.

The profile is your first impression, so being as descriptive as much as possible without having to write a book. Just a little information about your experiences, education, and what exactly you are offering should be enough.

You can attach your social media accounts, showcase samples of your work, upload a resume, or writing one from scratch.

FlexJobs give you the ability to set the security options by deciding which employer can view your profile, only members of FlexJobs, or no one at all.

Searching for Jobs

There are two ways you can search for jobs. Auto Job Suggestion and Advanced Job Search

Auto job suggestion

FlexJobs will search the job database to find jobs that fit your needs and wants based on the profile setting to create a job suggestions list.

The job suggestion list will pop up when you log in under “New Jobs of Interest,” as well as regular private email.

Advanced job search.

This option allows you more control over the level of flexibility that you are looking for in a job to find those that closely fit your schedule.

You can search for jobs starting with location, then further define into Categories. Using categories, you can narrow the field of the job search.

Type of jobs on FlexJobs

Certainly, you want to know what type of jobs are there on Flexjobs? This is why you joined the program.

I can tell you that you will find genuine opportunities here. You will see far fewer entry job offers available.

Most jobs involve working on a full or part-time schedule. Freelance jobs and at-home works are very thin.

There’re jobs from companies that employ only remote workers.

Job search results will likely include jobs from all over the world, not in the US.

Don’t expect the advanced job search option will bring you accurate results. Sometimes a search for jobs in a specific location might include all the jobs from anywhere. A search for writing jobs also showed you inbound marketing managers and customer service reps.

To apply for a job, you are required to click out of FlexJobs to complete an application. This is a little annoying.

Using Flexjobs will save you hours upon hours of wading through free websites searching for a desirable job opportunity. This does not include the time wasted on scam after scam.

However, why you pay FlexJobs when you can get the same services from Fiverr?

FlexJobs has a great selection of copywriter jobs, customer support jobs, and teaching jobs for you to choose from. These jobs are all pre-screened. You can safely assume they are decent and scam-free.

Other FlexJobs Features

Besides the special feature above, you also have access to some other benefits, which I will discuss in this section.

Job Skills Testing

To check your job skills, FlexJobs offers over 170 free skills testing to all members.

You can take up to 50 different skill tests for free, and the only score over 70% will be listed on your profile.

When you apply for jobs, the employers can see your test results within the FlexJobs.

Resume Evaluations and Writing Services

All members receive free resume evaluations.

If you want professional help with editing or writing a resume, you have to pay a fee for this service. FlexJobs has several partners that can provide this service at great discounts.

Email Notifications

You can set up to get qualified job leads sent directly to your inbox as soon as it’s posted.

Many job positions are filled within 48 hours. This is a great way to stay ahead of the competition.

Other Discounts

FlexJobs has many other discounts for telecommuting employees through third-party members. Here are a few examples:

  • 40% Meal discount
  • 20% off of a Grammarly subscription
  • 1-month free trial to Skillshare with no credit card required
  • $50 worth of coupons and 3 free items for new Costco members
  • Those are just a few. I strongly recommend you take advantage of these offers.

There are some negative member reviews on these features that I think are relevant to include in this article for you to know:

The resume services feature is a waste of time because the vast majority of the jobs on the platform required you to leave Flexjobs to apply. There is no platform integration for employers to view the resumé.

Many of the tests are out-of-date software. It does not accurately reflect your skills. Therefore, these tests seem pointless and a waste of time.

Is FlexJobs a Scam?

I agree sometimes it is a scam to pay for finding a job.

FlexJobs is not only helping you searching for jobs, but they are screening the jobs to protect you from scams. This is the service that you are paying for.

This is the reason Flexjobs members do not complain that the company is a scam or an unethical business since 2007.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB website) give Flexjobs an A + rating, and major newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal has described FlexJobs as “A helpful subscription site for job seekers is FlexJobs, which vets telecommuting and other flexible jobs and also publishes lists of the best companies for flexible work.” –Sara Sutton Fell, chief executive officer.

It is safe to say in this FlexJobs review that it is not a scam.

I have seen a few complaints against FlexJobs. People use the platform to find work-from-home jobs. The name of this company is “FlexJobs,” not work from home or work at home jobs. Online affiliates are promoting FlexJobs as a work-at-home job site. This is wrong.

Flexjobs Feedback and red flags

FlexJobs receives high praises on the web, and the testimonials are real. Most of them from actual members.

This for sure is not one of those Paid Social Media Jobs that use fake testimonials to promote their services.

The only red flags are from people who weren’t happy with the home-based jobs. Many of them were not location-based or not real telecommuting. I think FlexJobs needs to be clearer on this option to avoid further confusion.

Is FlexJobs Worth the Investment?

The answer to this question is mixed.

Some say FlexJobs is a good investment for people that serious about finding flexible jobs and don’t want to waste their time dig through piles and piles of job ads to find a legit opportunity. This is a service that will protect you from scams.

Others believe it’s a waste of hard-earned money when you can get the services from freelance sites.

The ultimate question is, how valuable is finding a scam-free and flexible job worth to you?

Here are some Pros and Cons for investing in Flexjobs:

FlexJobs Pros

One of the largest databases of flexible or telecommuting jobs.

Saves you time researching and finding a job.

No scams guaranteed. All jobs are carefully screened.

FlexJobs guarantees no ads on the site.

No monthly billing if you don’t want it.

30-day money-back guarantee.

Free skill tests to showcase to potential employers.

Access to jobs that may prove hard to find elsewhere

A wide variety of positions available

Better Business Bureau accredited

FlexJobs Cons

Not all the jobs are work at home.

$14.95 is too expensive when you have free job boards available.

This is a free service on Fiverr freelance platform.

Jobs are publicly listed not exclusive to FlexJobs

The job categories are confusing and poorly organized

The user interface confusing and cluttered

FlexJobs Review Conclusion

FlexJobs is a good job board for people with skills and experience in technology looking for a flexible job. This platform has a lot of work for designers, developers, and techies.

However, FlexJobs is not a good place for people looking for freelance gigs, work from home, or beginners. There are not many jobs for entry-level workers with no experience.

An alternative to FlexJobs – Real Work from Home

Are you looking for a work-from-home job but left disappointed because the work-at-home lifestyle is not as glamorous?

Most works from home jobs are small gigs, projects, or tasks that only last for a few hours or a few days.

You have to constantly search for new opportunities to generate sufficient income to support the family.

Flexjobs was created to give home workers an easy and manageable way to find a work-from-home gig.

The life of a home worker is no different from a small business owner constantly looking for a new opportunity to generate revenue.

This is the reason why you will not find a lot of work-from-home jobs in the FlexJobs database.

If you want a permanent work-at-home job without having to constantly look for a new one, then you must create it for yourself, building your own online business.
