What Is ASEA?

ASEA is an mlm company manufactures and distributes a popular redox supplement drink with the main ingredients, distilled water and salt. The company claims that this redox supplement if consume at least four ounces per day, will help to improve the total body health and allowing every system of the body to function better.

ASEA was founded by Verdis Norton, James Pack, and Tyler Norton in 2009 to promote and sell saltwater, hints ASEA (meaning from the sea).

At the time of writing this review, ASEA estimated sales revenue is $120 million with over 30,000 active associates operating worldwide.

The company income disclosure statement (IDS) reported less than 14% of associates earned an income in 2018.

I strongly urge you to carefully consider and compare ASEA with other home-based business opportunities before investing.

You can use My #1 Business Opportunity to make a comparison.

How To become an ASEA associate?

To become an ASEA associate, you need to have a sponsor. You can search for an ASEA associate online and register through that website.

The process to become an active ASEA associate and launch your own business requires purchasing a Welcome Kit as well as maintaining a minimum monthly Personal Volume (PV) to receive bonuses and commissions. Don’t worry, we’ll discuss more on these requirements in the following sections of this ASEA review.

How Much Does It Cost To Join ASEA?

The initial cost to join ASEA is $40 to purchase an enrollment kit. However, this fee offers 0 PV.

If you want to earn commissions, you must purchase one of the Enrollment Packs with price ranging from $190 to $1,350.

ASEA enrollment packs review

Besides the fees above, all ASEA associates are required to submit a monthly minimum personal order of 100 PV (Personal Volume), approximately $134 every month, to maintain an active and qualified status.

As you can see, the cost to become an ASEA associate is more than $40. You must also include the enrollment pack and monthly PV costs.

If you fail to submit a minimum of 100 PV each month, you are not qualified to receive bonuses and commissions from ASEA.

Remember, the expenses above do not include your time, the marketing costs, travel expenses, and gas.

Other home-based businesses, such as Affiliate Marketing, you earn the commission on every sale, no need to be active and qualified.

To learn why mlm opportunity, such as ASEA, requires associates to maintain active and qualified status, you should read our discussion on the FTC MLM Guideline for more information.

ASEA Compensation Plan

The ASEA compensation plan was designed based on the binary system.

The binary compensation plan is considered the most difficult option to make money in the mlm industry.

Under the ASEA compensation plan, associates are required to build two successful teams, the left and the right, to earn override commissions.

I’ll provide a quick analysis of the ASEA compensation plan. To see it in detail, just download a copy.

ASEA offers two options to earn: selling the redox supplement drink and/or recruiting associates.

Make Money Selling ASEA Salt Water

You earn a retail commission two ways: purchasing the redox supplement at wholesale price to retail or directing customers to purchase the saltwater from your personal ASEA replicated website.

The wholesale price for a case of redox supplement is a $120 pack with 100 PV. If you can resell at the suggested retail price of $150, you have earned a $30 retail commission.

The question then, can you sell ASEA saltwater at the suggested retail price?

I did a quick search on eBay, the famous online marketplace to dump mlm products. I found a lot of ASEA redox supplement selling for as low as $90 per case. This is far less than the ASEA wholesale price.

It’s very difficult to make money selling overprice products on the market. This seems to be a major problem with promoting mlm products such as ASEA saltwater.

Make Money Recruiting Associates

When you cannot sell products, the next best option to make money with mlm opportunity is building a team, recruiting new ASEA associates.

As long as you are active and qualified, here are your options to make money recruiting people to join ASEA:

Preferred Customer Bonus

You can earn a $25 bonus every time your preferred customers purchased a case of the ASEA redox supplement on Autoship.

But you will not receive this bonus unless you are an active associate. This means you have to submit a monthly personal order at least $134 to generate 100 PV to maintain an active status.

Fast Start Bonus

A $20 Fast Start Bonus is awarded every time you personally sponsor someone who purchases an ASEA Enrollment Pack.

This bonus doesn’t apply to the $40 enrollment kit.

Here’s the breakdown of fast start bonuses.

ASEA fast start bonuses scam
AAA Bonus

This is the ASEA Autoship Advantage Program. There are three levels of this bonus:

  • You earn a $100 bonus when 4 of your personally enrolled associates join the ASEA Autoship Advantage Program.
  • The AAA bonus jumps up to $250 when two of your first level associates each has 4 personally sponsored Associates on Autoship.
  • The highest AAA bonus of $400 is earned when 4 of your second level associates each has 4 personally sponsored Associates on Autoship for a total of 16.

To receive this AAA bonus, you must participate in the Autoship program with a minimum order of $134 per month or 100 PV.

Team Commissions

You are required to build two active teams, one on the left and one on the right, to start earning team commissions.

A 10% team commission is calculated using the volume of a lesser leg. Below is an overview of how team commissions are determined:

You had 1,000 GV on your lesser leg and 3,000 GV on your greater leg, you would receive a commission of $100 (10% of the 1,000 GV lesser leg). Then 1,000 would be subtracted from both legs, leaving 0 GV on your lesser leg and 2,000 GV on the greater leg for the next week.

You must maintain an active status to earn team commissions and avoid a zero reset. A zero-reset occurs when you fail to submit the 100 PV for the month. When this happens, both the right and the left team’s sales volume is reset to zero.

There are other bonuses, commissions, and incentives that require more purchasing of ASEA products to qualify. You can refer to the compensation plan for more information.

As you can see, there are multiple ways to earn with ASEA. But to get paid, you must remain active and qualified.

This is how mlm works. Ways to earn is not the same as qualifying to receive the money.

You can potentially earn nothing with ASEA because the costs to maintain an active and qualified might exceed the actual commissions received.

Can You Make Money With ASEA?

To understand your chance of making money with ASEA, you need to look at the Income Disclosure Statement (IDS). This financial document provides ACTUAL INCOMES that associates received from ASEA.

But, where can you get a copy of the IDS?

You can request one at the time of enrollment. The law requires ASEA to provide you a copy together with the compensation plan.

If ASEA refuses to provide you a copy of the income disclosure statement, don’t join.

However, here’s a copy of the ASEA income disclosure statement for you to use with this review.

ASEA Associates Income

The ASEA income disclosure statement only reports incomes on active associates. This group is made up of less than 14% of all ASEA associates.

Based on the active associate numbers above, we can say that over 86% of ASEA associates earned nothing.

If we look at the average income, we can see that the majority of associates made less than $441 per month.

Before you get excited and concluded, “Yes, I can make money with ASEA!” I like to point out that this is the gross income, before taking out taxes and expenses.

What happens if you deduct the business expenses from this commission?

Well, another 11.103 % of ASEA associates made no money. This increase 86% to over 97%.

What is this 97%?

It’s the business failure rate. Over 97% of ASEA associates fail to make money with this business opportunity.

Based on this income disclosure, I can tell you that your chance of earning a profit with ASEA is near zero.

Why I am so confident?

Because your chance of making money with ASEA is less than 3%. How can you achieve profitability with such a small success rate?

ASEA business opportunity is not profitable.

Is ASEA A Scam?

ASEA offers you a business opportunity. Even though you cannot make money with this business opportunity, it doesn’t make ASEA a scam.

You are responsible for researching, studying, and investigating ASEA before becoming an associate.

Reading this ASEA Review is a good way to understand the risks and rewards associated with this mlm business opportunity.

As the owner of an Online Business Review, I have evaluated hundreds of mlm businesses to help investors identified and find the right home-based business opportunity to build their dream.

I can say ASEA is not a scam. But it is very difficult to achieve your dream of financial freedom as an ASEA associate.

Is ASEA A Pyramid Scheme?

We know that ASEA must follow the FTC guideline to remain as a legit business. However, this doesn’t mean ASEA is a good investment.

You need to evaluate both the compensation plan and the income disclosure statement together to determine if ASEA is a pyramid scheme.

As we evaluated the ASEA compensation plan, we found associates were forced to purchase saltwater to maintain an active status to earn commissions. This means every recruit is a customer of ASEA.

The compensation plan was designed to turn people into customers, not business owners. This explains the best option to make money with ASEA is recruiting new associates. The more people you recruit, the more money you make.

This is how you build a pyramid scheme.

Well, you don’t have to agree with me that ASEA is a pyramid scheme.

But you must agree that the ASEA compensation plan was designed to convert associates into customers, not business owners.

Is ASEA Worth It?

Those that believe in the health benefits of consuming saltwater will tell you that ASEA is worth it.

But if you are looking for a profitable business to make money from home, then ASEA doesn’t look good.

The business failure rate for ASEA is over 97%. It will be extremely difficult to find financial success with this mlm opportunity.

However, the decision to become an ASEA associate is yours.
