What Is Total Life Changes (TLC)?

Total Life Changes is an mlm company that distributes and sells a variety of products in the personal beauty, wellness, and supplement industry.

The company was launched in 1999 under the name, SeAcai, by Jack Fallon with headquarters in Fair Haven, Michigan.

In 2012, Jack and Craig Martin launched TLC and SeAcai became the subsidiary of the company.

TLC has grown into an international mlm network of over 49,800 independent distributors operating in 140 countries.

The company 2018 sales revenue reached $82 million.

However, Total Life Changes does not publish its income disclosure statement. This financial document provides important financial information regarding TLC distributors’ earnings.

Total Life Changes is operating in a highly competitive industry with low success rate.

It is recommended to compare TLC with other home-based opportunities before investing.

You can use My #1 Business Opportunity to make a comparison.

How Does Total Life Changes Work?

You must have a sponsor, an enroller, to join Total Life Changes.

You or your sponsor can begin the registration process online at the company’s website.

You can join for free. But to build a business and earn the commission, you must be an active and qualified distributor.

Active and qualified mean you are required to purchase TLC products every month.

How Much Does It Cost To Join Total Life Changes?

Joining TLC is free, but you cannot participate in the compensation plan.

You must activate your business by purchase Business Starter Kit.

Total Life Changes review starter kits

The cost to join Total Life Changes depends on the Starter Kit that you selected.

A $49.95 investment will activate your TLC business and qualify you for the lowest rank with a 10% commission.

A $99.95 investment offers 80 QV (Qualifying Volume) which will qualify you as a Director, giving you a 12% commission and the opportunity to earn more bonuses and rewards.

If you want to build a business, then the cost to join Total Life changes is $99.95.

Besides purchasing a Starter Kit, there are expenses to operate your Total Life Changes mlm business.

Total Life Changes requires all distributors to maintain 40 QV each month to remain active.

40 QV is approximately $50 of products ordered each month.

I call this, the monthly Active Expense. TLC is a Pay and Play business opportunity. If you want to earn, you have to pay.

Any distributor that fails to maintain an Active Status is not allowed to receive bonuses and commission from Total Life Changes.

Remember, the expenses above do not include your time, marketing costs, traveling, and gas.

The monthly active expense can destroy your business profit if you cannot resell the products. This becomes the business losses.

Other home-based businesses, such as Affiliate Marketing, you earn the commission on every sale, no need to be active and qualified.

Do you know why mlms have a monthly active fee?

Two reasons: to sell products and to avoid being classified as a pyramid scheme under the FTC guideline. (Check our MLM vs Affiliate Marketing for the discussion on the FTC MLM Guideline.)

Total Life Changes Compensation Plan

TLC CEO believes the company compensation plan offers people an opportunity to create a better life for themselves, “Total Life Changes.”

But this company adopts a Binary compensation.

Binary compensation is considered one of the most difficult to make money in the mlm business.

Under this compensation structure, distributors have to build two successful organizations, not one, to make money.

I just don’t see how Total Life Changes can help you to create a better life?

I’ll provide a quick analysis of the Total Life Changes compensation plan. To see it in detail, just download a copy.

Before we begin discussing the compensation plan, you need to understand the method of calculating the commission.

Total Life Changes determines the commission based on the product Qualifying Volume (QV).

The CV is points assigned to each TLC product. Below is an example of how the commission is calculated.

Total Life Changes pyramid scheme commission

The real commission on a $49.95 sale is only 40%, not 50%.

Does this make your life better?

I hope you can see the Total Life Changes scam.

OK, let look at the compensation plan.

Total Life Changes compensation lists 4 options to earn.

But we know, you only have two options to earn with mlm opportunity: Sell Products and/or recruiting others to join.

Make Money Selling TLC Products

Total Life Changes distributors can purchase products at the discount price to resell, or they can sell directly from their own TLC replicated website to earn a retail profit.

Retail Profit

But you must be active to receive the 40% discount.

This sounds easy to earn, right?

Well, I did a search online and found a package of Total Life Changes INSTANT IASO TEA selling for $23 with free shipping.

The same package of tea on the TLC website selling for $59.95.

Can you make a retail profit selling Total Life Changes products on the market?

It will be a challenge.

Overprice is the reason why you can never earn a retail profit selling mlm product on the market.

Make Money Recruiting Others

Now, let discuss some options to make money from recruiting activities.

Remember, you must be active and qualified to receive these bonuses and commissions.

You are active if you maintain a 40 QV each month, about $50 order.

To qualify, you must recruit two people into your team, one on the left and one on the right.

Once you meet the two requirements above, here are your options to earn:

Fast Start Bonus (FSB)

You will earn a 50% QV commission FSB of the BV on every first order placed by your personal recruits.

Binary Pay

Depend on your rank, A 10% to 25% Binary Pay is earned when one of your team sales volume reached 1,500 GCV and the other reach 1,000 GCV.

The commission is calculated using the sales volume of the lesser team, 1,000 GCV, and you must be active and qualified.

Matching Bonus

A 50% Matching Bonus is earned on the Binary Pay of your personally enrolled distributors up to 2 levels.

But you must achieve the rank of Director to receive this bonus.

As a director, you are required to order 80 QV each, about $100 Autoship.

As you can see, there are multiple ways to earn. But no money is paid unless you are active and qualified.

This is the trick with mlm. Ways to earn is not the same as qualifying to receive the money.

Qualification requires more product purchases or recruiting more people.

You can potentially earn nothing under the Total Life Changes compensation plan because the costs staying active and qualified might exceed the bonuses and commissions received.

When evaluating an mlm opportunity like TLC, you cannot rely on the compensation plan to determine the business income.

You must look at the actual bonuses and commissions received by TLC distributors to understand the business profits and losses.

Can You Make Money With Total Life Changes?

You cannot rely on the compensation plan and conclude that you can make money with Total Life Changes.

Here’s what I mean,

The TLC compensation plan offers POTENTIAL EARNINGS, not actual income.

To know the actual income, you need a copy of the TLC Income Disclosure Statement (IDS). This financial document provides ACTUAL INCOMES received by distributors.

Where can you get a copy of the IDS?

READERS ALSO LIKE  Free Long Tail Keyword Generator

You can request one at the time of enrollment. The laws require Total Life Changes to provide you a copy together with the compensation plan.

As a business review writer, I look to the actual incomes to determine future earnings.

If TLC refuses to provide you a copy of the IDS report, don’t join. This is a sign of a scam.

Is TLC A Scam?

Using a confusing and complicated compensation plan to trick people into joining the business opportunity is unethical. For this, I say TLC is a scam.

But in our business world, this business practice is allowed.

Total Life Changes is a business opportunity.

Every business opportunity has risks. You are responsible to carefully research, study, and investigate Total Life Changes before investing.

When you join without doing proper researches, you cannot call Total Life Changes a scam.

Reading this Total Life Changes Review is a good way to learn the risks and rewards of this opportunity.

Sometimes entrepreneurs hire a professional financial analyst to help with evaluating the business opportunity that they are interested prior to joining.

As an owner of an Online Business Review, I offer my home-based and mlm opportunities review helping investors to avoid scams.

As a business opportunity, Total Life Changes might not be a scam. But I don’t recommend this business..

Is Total Life Changes a pyramid scheme?

If you follow the FTC guideline, then TLC might be a legit mlm company.

But I don’t use the laws to evaluate a business opportunity.

I am using the financial information and earnings to determine a pyramid scheme.

I say, most mlms are pyramid schemes.

If you look at the mlm compensation plan. Distributors are forced to purchase overpriced products to earn the commission.

The only way to sell Total Life Changes products is by recruiting others to become a distributor.

The more people that you bring in, the more money you earn.

The customers of mlm companies are the distributors, those seeking to make money with Total Life Changes.

Recruiting is the way to get promoted and make money.

Doesn’t this qualify TLC as a pyramid scheme?

You don’t have to agree with me.

But, based on our Total Life Changes Review, you must agree that TLC does not provide people a way to create a brighter future.

The Total Life Changes compensation plan was designed to make money for TLC, not to help you achieve your goals and dreams.

Does Total Life Changes Work?

Maybe the products help you lose a few pounds.

But as a business opportunity, I would not invest in this business.

However, the decision to invest is yours to make. I hope this Total Life Changes review provides you enough information to make this decision.

I am not a big fan of mlm opportunities because of this issue, “Business Control.”

Think about this, what happens if TLC goes out of business?
